My Top 3 Favorite Online Calorie Calculators

Whether you like it or not, calories play the biggest role in determining your weight. There are many other factors, but calorie intake will ALWAYS be the largest factor... but where do you start? How many should you eat? Is there a magic number? This blog post will highlight my three favorite online calculators, giving you a good starting-off point.

Working Against Gravity (I use them!)

The first calorie calculator I recommend and my favorite is Working Against Gravity. This is a calorie calculator that I have used with great success in the past AND currently still use (with a personal coach). It takes into account your height, weight, age, gender, and activity level to give you a calorie range. And it's free! The 1-on-1 coaching is not.

MacrosFirst (tracking app)

Another great calorie calculator is MacrosFirst. It is the app I use for tracking/logging my food. This calculator is a bit more simple than Working Against Gravity's. You simply enter your height, weight, age, and activity level and it gives you a calorie range. It also gives you a macronutrient range, which is very helpful if you are someone who likes to track their macros.

RP Strength

Last but not least, a CrossFit favorite calorie calculator is RP Strength. This is a paid calorie calculator, but it is worth every penny. It also adjusts as your progress (or don’t progress). RP Strength takes into account your lean body mass, muscle mass, age, gender, and activity level to give you a very accurate calorie range. It also has a great food database and barcode scanner.

As you progress on your fitness journey, you may find that you need to adjust your calorie intake. This is because as you lose weight and/or muscle mass, your calorie needs will change.

If your current calorie intake is not yielding results, it might be time to try a different calculator or even speak with a coach (like me!) or nutritionist to get a more tailored calorie range.

Happy calorie counting! :)
