OnlyCans: My Official Energy Drink Rankings

Energy drinks are basically a personality trait at this point.

If you’ve followed my content for more than five minutes, you already know I treat the caffeine aisle like it’s a professional sport. Every gas station stop turns into scouting combine film. Every new flavor gets judged immediately. No mercy. No bias. No participation trophies.

Welcome to OnlyCans — the completely unnecessary, overly serious review series where I rank energy drinks based on flavor, drinkability, creativity, caffeine feel, and whether I’d actually buy it again instead of letting it rot in the garage fridge for six months.

A few important notes before the rankings start:

  • I care way more about flavor than “energy blend” marketing buzzwords.
  • If a drink tastes like battery acid and melted candy, it’s getting buried.
  • Zero sugar automatically gets bonus points because I’m not trying to drink 300 calories of carbonated syrup.
  • Nostalgia matters… a little.
  • Some rankings may offend you personally. That’s okay. Growth comes from adversity.

This list will keep updating as new drinks drop and the caffeine arms race continues.

Now let’s rank the cans.

Raspberry and citrus give it that melted-ice-pop flavor, and nothing else on the list has topped it yet.

My OnlyCans rating: 9.7/10.

Ghost ’Merica Pop energy drink can with an OnlyCans rating of 9.7 out of 10.

Tastes like the gas station cherry slushie your parents never should’ve let you have at 9 years old. Super smooth, super sweet, and dangerously easy to crush.

My OnlyCans rating: 9.3/10.

🎥 Instagram

Tastes almost identical to actual Welch’s grape juice somehow. Elite flavor. Zero weird aftertaste. This is the current gold standard for grape energy drinks.

My OnlyCans rating: 9.3/10.

🎥 Instagram

Tastes like actual sour gummy worms without the weird fake-energy-drink aftertaste. Sweet, sour, and easy to keep drinking.

My OnlyCans rating: 9.0/10.

🎥 Instagram

Tastes like a melted snow cone in the best way. Strong strawberry-watermelon flavor with just enough coconut to make it different without overdoing it.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.9/10.

🎥 Instagram

Basically tastes like the blue sports drink flavor every company tries to make, but better. Sweet, smooth, and doesn’t have the harsh aftertaste a lot of blue raspberry drinks get.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.8/10.

Prime Energy Blue Raspberry can with an OnlyCans rating of 8.8 out of 10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Blue raspberry I could drink every day without getting sick of it. 3D stays reliable.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.8/10.

3D Energy Berry Blue can with an OnlyCans rating of 8.8 out of 10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Raspberry and vanilla give this one a candy-and-cream flavor that earns its spot near the top.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.8/10.

Ghost Raspberry Cream energy drink can with an OnlyCans rating of 8.8 out of 10.

🎥 Instagram

Straightforward watermelon flavor with the kind of easy-drinking sweetness that makes a simple idea work.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.7/10.

Monster Energy Ultra Watermelon can with an OnlyCans rating of 8.7 out of 10.

🎥 Instagram

Tastes like straight-up cherry. Nothing fancy, just a dependable energy drink that gets to the point.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.6/10.

Monster Energy Ultra Red can with an OnlyCans rating of 8.6 out of 10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

More mango than orange, with a sour bite. No soap taste here. This one works.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.6/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

A lime-forward soda-style flavor that scratches the citrus itch without needing much explanation.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.6/10.

🎥 Instagram

Fruit punch can go either way for me. This one leans cherry and brings some sour. I dig it.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.5/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Basically a fizzy take on tropical-punch Kool-Aid, and a pretty convincing reason to put that familiar flavor in a can.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.4/10.

🎥 Instagram

Guava gives this one a tropical flavor that stands apart from the usual berry and citrus options.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.4/10.

🎥 Instagram

Lemonade that hits the spot on a hot day. Not quite Chick-fil-A lemonade, but close.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.3/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Straight-up limeade with a sweet citrus bite, and a good change of pace from the candy-heavy flavors.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.3/10.

🎥 Instagram

Plenty of cherry and limeade, with some tartness. A little artificial, but it still gets the job done.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.3/10.

▶️ YouTube

Sour apple that does not hold back. Too aggressive for me to drink every day, but a good change of pace.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.2/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Black cherry gets a little softer around the edges with the vanilla, and the combination works pretty well.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.2/10.

🎥 Instagram

A fizzy take on classic lemonade that leans into the sweet-and-tart combo instead of turning it into sour candy.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

That familiar SunnyD tang in a fizzy can, with a sweet citrus flavor that makes the collaboration make sense.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

Pineapple is the whole idea here, and the sweet tropical flavor makes a pretty solid case for keeping things simple.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

Sweet mandarin orange meets tangy mango in a tropical combo that’s easy to get along with.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

Kiwi gets its own turn here, and it’s a welcome change from another can trying to taste like berry candy.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

Basically Sprite with caffeine. If lemon-lime is your thing, this gets it right.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.0/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Pineapple and cream soda sound a little odd together on paper, but make a pretty good team in the can.

My OnlyCans rating: 8.0/10.

🎥 Instagram

Strawberry and watermelon make an easy enough combo to like, even if this one doesn’t quite stand out from the pack.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.9/10.

🎥 Instagram

A fizzy gas-station throwback that holds its own, even without a fancy flavor name or a candy collab.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.9/10.

🎥 Instagram

A crisp, easy-drinking option that keeps things fairly simple, though it doesn’t quite have the personality of the favorites.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.8/10.

🎥 Instagram

Berry candy in a can is an easy idea to like, though this Ring Pop take lands more in the good-than-great category.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.7/10.

🎥 Instagram

A raspberry flavor with enough tang to keep it interesting, but not quite enough going on to join the top tier.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.7/10.

🎥 Instagram

Sweet-and-sour gummy flavor. Pretty good, though Reign does this better.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.6/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Strawberry, mango, and pineapple make a solid tropical mix.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.5/10.

🎥 Instagram

Pineapple gummy-bear flavor with a candy sweetness. Good, just not my favorite Reign.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.3/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Cherry lollipop flavor. The candy idea works well enough.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.2/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Grape with a little citrus. A decent Monster, but not one of the best.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.1/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Straightforward grape flavor. Respectable, though Ghost Welch's is a much better pick.

My OnlyCans rating: 7.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

Sweet-and-sour fruit candy flavor. Decent, just not something I'd go out of my way for.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.8/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Grapefruit gives this a different citrus flavor. A decent change of pace.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.8/10.

🎥 Instagram

Strawberry with coconut cream. The dessert idea is there, but it isn't a favorite.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.7/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Kiwi and green apple make an interesting combo that ends up just okay.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.7/10.

🎥 Instagram

Straightforward orange flavor. Fine, but it doesn't do much to stand out.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.7/10.

🎥 Instagram

Orange, lime, and raspberry sherbet. The flavor idea is better than the result.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.6/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

White peach with pomelo citrus. Different, though not something I'd reach for first.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.6/10.

🎥 Instagram

Blue raspberry with a citrus edge. Decent enough as a backup.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.5/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Berry flavor without much reason to pick it over Ruthless Raspberry.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.3/10.

🎥 Instagram

Peach-ring candy flavor. Okay, but the name is more appealing than the drink.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.1/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Orange and pineapple make an okay tropical mix, just nothing special.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.1/10.

🎥 Instagram

Strawberry and lemonade is a familiar combo. Drinkable, but there are better options.

My OnlyCans rating: 6.0/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Lemon-lime soda flavor. Not terrible, but nowhere near Ghost's best.

My OnlyCans rating: 5.5/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Citrus flavor rather than coffee. Middle-of-the-road and easy to pass over.

My OnlyCans rating: 5.4/10.

🎥 Instagram

Sweet strawberry with a little tartness. Pretty average by Monster standards.

My OnlyCans rating: 5.2/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Mandarin and marshmallow aim for an orange-ice-pop flavor. Doesn't quite come together.

My OnlyCans rating: 5.1/10.

Tropical punch that doesn't do much for me. Prime's Blue Raspberry is the better pick.

My OnlyCans rating: 4.9/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Fruit punch with berry and citrus notes. Not one I'd keep in the rotation.

My OnlyCans rating: 4.6/10.

🎥 Instagram

Mango, pineapple, and passion fruit. Sounds better than it tastes.

My OnlyCans rating: 3.7/10.

🎥 Instagram

The blue raspberry is fine. Then the aftertaste shows up. Artificial, medicine-like, and not for me.

My OnlyCans rating: 3.5/10.

🎥 Instagram | ▶️ YouTube

Kiwi and guava just don't work here. Easy pass.

My OnlyCans rating: 2.9/10.
